| Congratulations to Will Schlitz who prevailed in a 4-way playoff to claim his first CVGA Open Division victory at the 2024 CVGA Turtleback Open. The soon to be University of St. Thomas freshman continued a stretch of great golf by our college players on the CVGA Tour. After even par 71’s by all four players, Will birdied the first playoff hole to defeat CVGA Hall of Fame member George Smith, Isaiah Bauer of Durand, WI, and another Stout Blue Devil, Dalton Anderson of Cottage Grove, MN. Well done Will, and likely the first of many to come. Solo 5th place was claimed by Professional Noah Rasinski of Prior Lake, MN with a 2-Over Par 73. With 74’s, Travis Meyer and Andrew Bauer remained in their 1-2 order atop the season long points list. In finishing runner up, George Smith claimed the first CVGA Open Division Senior Player of the year. George’s 26 points on the season clipped Matt Kamish of New Richmond, WI by a single point, and Greg Jamieson of Shoreview, MN by 2 points. Congratulations to a CVGA Hall of Famer adding to his impressive career accomplishments! Skins were won by Matt Kamish, Grant Curtis, Don Palodichuk, and Craig Zadra. The course and weather were both awesome, and special thanks to Kevin and the staff at Turtleback for putting on another great event. Next up will be the 64th Annual Tournament of Champions at the Eau Claire Golf and Country Club on Saturday, September Saturday, September 28th. I will be sending out email invitations to all that have qualified, so please respond quickly to reserve your spot in the season ending event. I am looking forward to seeing you all at Eau Claire Golf and Country Club to wrap up another exciting year of the CVGA Open Division. |
