The top twelve point earners in both the Chippewa Valley Golf Association and the Three Rivers Golf Association out of La Crosse competed in a Ryder Cup format tourney on Saturday, the 26th.

The tourney was to have taken place at Black River Falls Skyline Golf Course but what with the torrential downpour that started the evening before and continued that morning, it was suggested the tourney be rescheduled for the 16th of this month. On such short notice, most of the participants could not make that date. Mike Drugan, owner and operator of Drugan's Castle Mound and a member of the TRGA team suggested the event reconvene at his course where the weather was pleasant. Drugan's is southwest of Black River and the storm was moving east. After a 50 minute drive to the course, the skies opened up to reveal blue with scattered clouds - but no rain.

While the participants were enroute to the course, things were made ready by the staff of Drugan's. Carts were prepared with name tags, the greenskeeper (broken arm and all) alerted the greens crew and had the greens cut and the course in excellent condition by the time the players started.

Many thanks must go to Mike for the offer and use of his course. I heard a number of comments today at the seniors finale at Wissota that Drugan's is a heck of a track. You might want to keep it in mind for some fall golf in the next couple of months.

Of the top 12 players in the CVGA this year, George Smith, Joe Springer, Scott Knoblach, Blair Swiler, and Jason Allen could not make the tourney as a result of prior commitments. Their places were taken by the 13th through 17th position players.

There may have been replacements for the TRGA team also but I am not aware of them. Also, I apologize for not giving some of the TRGA team members first names as at this point they are unknown.

The CVGA won the event 15-9 for the second straight year.
