CHIP, PUTT, & DRIVE CONTEST
Players can test their skills against others in their
own age division. Competition consists of three skill stations, testing
distance, accuracy, short game, and touch & feel on the green.
Date: Thursday, August 7 – 8:30 am
Fee: $2 per participant
Ages: 6-15 years
Parent/Child Best Ball Tourney
Youth who participated in the summer clinics and leagues
are invited to participate. Pre-register at the course you want to play.

The First Tee of the Chippewa Valley Mission Statement:
The First Tee of the Chippewa Valley is dedicated to impacting the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character-development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf. It aims to align itself with youth agencies and entities for the purpose of introducing youth to the game of golf and its inherent values in an affordable, accessible manner.
* The First Tee of the Chippewa Valley is a public/private partnership with the Eau Claire YMCA and Hickory Hills Golf Course.
* Hickory Hills Golf Course has been voted the #1 golf course of the Chippewa Valley in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007. Hickory Hills Golf Course is located just 3 miles south of Eau Claire on Highway 93. As an 18 hole executive length course, it measures 4168 yards from the blue tees and 3273 yards from the red. There are no par 5's here as we are geared for beginning and recreational players. The longest hole on the course is 365 yards and the shortest is 115 yards. Par 63 for Men and Women.
* The project has the active support of the Eau Claire YMCA.
* Affiliate courses include Hickory Hills, Princeton Valley, Pine Meadow, Viking Skyline, Osseo, and The Valley Golf Courses, and Dickís Divot Driving Range.
* There were over 600 participants in 2006.
* 2007 estimates even more youth participating in The First Tee Life Skills sessions at Hickory Hills and the Viking Skyline Golf Courses. An estimated 250 youth will be participating in The First Tee’s TARGET program through school physical education and home school courses.
* VOLUNTEERS are critical assets to each Chapter and facility of The First Tee because of their assistance in helping young people to acquire important values and life skills.
* Donations from corporations, agencies, and individuals: Learning core values through The Life Skills Experience is the foundation that will impact The First Tee participants for the rest of their lives. If you are committed to positively impacting the lives of young people in this area, make it a matter of choice and begin a partnership with The First Tee today.
* Equipment Donations: Items needed are Golf Balls, Tees, Markers, Divot Tools, Ball retrievers / tubes, Jr Pull Carts, towels, club cleaning tools.
* BIG CUP TOURNAMENTS: Tournaments schedule to raise funds for The First Tee of the Chippewa Valley are scheduled at Hickory Hills Golf Course June 2. $15 members/$25 non-members includes 9-holes, food, beverages, and prizes. Pin events and other special events throughout the entire tournament. Call Hickory for details (878-4543).
* Junior League Play: for independent golfers starts May 24-August 21.
The First Tee (National)
The World Golf Foundation announced The First Tee in November of 1997 as a way to introduce the game of golf to young people who otherwise might not have exposure to the game and its positive values. Its focus is to give young people of all backgrounds an opportunity to develop, through golf and character educations, life-enhancing values such as honesty, integrity, and sportsmanship.

The First Tee has the active support of its Oversight Partners - The Augusta National Golf Club, Ladies Professional Golf Association, PGA of America, PGA TOUR and United States Golf Association. Former President George Bush serves as Honorary Chairman. The First Tee's goals through 2008 are to impact the lives of 600,000 young people, stabilize the 250 dedicated The First Tee golf learning facilities and establish 750 affiliate relationships with existing golf courses.
