Stabenow wins Wissota Open
Eric Stabenow, an assistant pro at the Eau Claire Country Club, fired a
round of four-under par 68 to win the Chippewa Valley Golf Association's
Lake Wissota Open at the Lake Wissota Golf Club in Chippewa Falls Sunday.
Stabenow, an Eau Claire North grad, bested a field of 66 players to win
his second career CVGA event.
Jason Pendleton of Superior shot a three-under par 69 to take second
place. Chris Ramberg of Blaine, Minn. and Joe Larson of Minneapolis each
shot two-under 70 to tie for third place. And Jamie Krula of Chippewa
Falls, Bill Peterson of Altoona, Neil Johnson of River Falls, Jason Allen
of Stevens Point and Mark Sperling of Lakeville, Minn. all shot one-under
70 to finish in a five-way tie for fifth place.
Andrew Longbella and Marty Hoenigmann of Chippewa Falls, Cody Peters of
Cadott and Greg Johnson of Black River Falls finished in a tie for 10th
place at 73.
Stabenow survived taking a triple-bogey eight on the par-five third hole
by making six birdies and an eagle after that.
Pendleton also made six birdies Sunday.
Brad Johnson of Burnsville, Minn., who tied Kelly Berger of Wausau for
first place at last season's Wissota Open at six-under 66, shot 75 Sunday,
while Berger shot 76.
The CVGA tour visits Prescott this Saturday for the Clifton Highlands
Open.
